In the end...

... it doesn't even matter

So, I was probably the second geekiest kid in my school. I had a non-existent social life in the last two years of high-school and I got into a prestigious Ivy League university where I spent the best four years of my life. But, now that I'm looking for jobs back in Pakistan, I will end up with the same remuneration package as someone who went to Preston University. I guess I should've just bunked classes and bought a fake degree or married a rich businessguy at eighteen :(

    Well things will eventually pay off....But if you measure the reward by only how much you earn, then you are overlooking alot of things....
    I know its a huge investment and money matters (of course it does), but what about all the classmates you hung out with, the environment, the conversaitons, and lots of things that shapes one's personalities, the thought processes, the person as a whole...The experience and the learning you got from there will surely come in (give it some time :) ), in due time....
    P.S. if any graduate from Preston university reads your current post, he might not like you much :P....not to mention those people who din't have the privilege (for some reason or the other ) to attend highly ranked schools and had to remain content with whatever they ended up with...
    P.S.S you probably dislike me too now :P...

    @Anas... I really like Abu Dhabi but Karachi's home.. maybe at some point, I will go back though :)
    @Ahmar... lol, not at all! you have a very valid point... all i'm saying is, effort is not equal to reward here and that's just sad. It's the same with doctors... they get Rs. 10,000 a month which is less than what a driver makes in Pakistan(and their work environment is probably 10 times worse).

    @Ahmar... I also think it's really unfair that they'd pay a foreign consultant (preferably, white) ten times as much as a Pakistani consultant (brown), with the same qualifications and experience...

    you got much more than the preston dude, and it WILL show in the end, when you get placed on the 'fast track'.

    but seriously. knowing what you do now, would you have given up your ivy experience?

    It does matter - it always matters. The end goal of life is not renumeration. Keep that in mind, and don't let the quarter-life crisis get you down.
